Oushak Rug, 03'05 x 05'04.��

This hand knotted wool vintage Turkish Oushak rug features soft pastel colors and a plethora of richly symbolic tribal motifs. Two joined ivory hexagonal amulets with pink and blue accents anchor an abrash sand field. Each amulet features four jumping antelopes, 16-pointed stars, two birds, diamonds, and multicolor squares. In the field, diamonds and C's ornament throughout. Two decorative end pieces ornament either short side, beyond which a primary border and two guard borders surround the composition. The primary border features hexagonal motifs each set with a star in an alternating color. The guard borders feature a row of quatrefoil florals against a pale blue backdrop.
