The DJI Avata Propeller Guard is the full-coverage protection accessory for the original DJI Avata (first-generation, 2022). It adds a ducted, aerodynamically tuned ring around the propellers that significantly extends the protection of the airframe's stock guards, making the Avata far more forgiving in tight indoor spaces, training environments, and close-proximity flying. The package includes the guard frame, a matched pair of landing gear, and the screws to install everything. Total added weight is approximately 49.5 g.
Full-coverage ducted propeller guard for the original DJI Avata. Adds rigorous indoor and close-quarters protection while preserving flight characteristics. Includes matched landing gear.

Please note: This accessory is built specifically for the original DJI Avata (first-generation, released 2022). It is not compatible with the DJI Avata 2 (second-generation, 2024), which has redesigned integrated prop guards and a different airframe. Verify your aircraft model before ordering — the two aircraft look similar but the propeller guard does not transfer between them.
Under FAA Part 107, operations using first-person view require either a Visual Observer who maintains visual line of sight on the aircraft, or an FAA waiver from 14 CFR 107.31. The propeller guard is hardware and does not change those rules; it does, however, make many indoor and close-quarters operations more practical by reducing the risk of a single contact ending the mission. Confirm your operating authorization and aircraft configuration before flight.
The original DJI Avata only (first-generation, released 2022). It is not compatible with the DJI Avata 2 (second-generation, 2024), the DJI FPV drone, or any other DJI airframe. The Avata 2 has redesigned integrated prop guards built into the airframe and does not use a separate guard accessory like this one.
Yes, the original Avata's airframe includes integrated partial guards around each propeller, which protect the blades from edge strikes during normal outdoor flying. This accessory adds a ducted full-coverage guard that wraps the propellers more completely, useful when the aircraft is flown in environments where the stock guards leave too much of the propeller arc exposed (indoors, in tight spaces, around training pilots).
Yes, slightly. The guard adds approximately 49.5 g to the aircraft and increases drag through the propeller arc, both of which reduce flight time compared to flying without it. DJI does not publish a specific flight-time delta for the guard, so treat the reduction as small but real. Plan for shorter sorties, particularly on aggressive flight profiles.
The Avata's flight controller compensates for small mass changes, so basic handling stays the same. You may notice tighter wind-resistance margins outdoors and slightly more conservative response in aggressive maneuvers. Recalibrate the aircraft after installation, and do a low-altitude hover check before committing to a longer flight.
The propeller guard mounts to the same hard points on the Avata's airframe as the stock landing gear. DJI supplies a matched pair of landing gear with the guard so the aircraft sits correctly on the ground after installation. Use the included landing gear; don't try to keep the original landing gear in place.
Inspect the guard after every contact. A guard that cracked or visibly deformed during a strike should be replaced before the next flight — a compromised guard can interact with the propellers and create its own failure mode. For training environments where strikes are routine, plan on the guard being a consumable accessory.
No. The mounting interface, airframe geometry, and integrated guard design are specific to the original Avata. The DJI FPV drone is a different platform entirely, and the Avata 2 uses redesigned integrated guards as part of its airframe. There is no propeller-guard accessory for the Avata 2 that mirrors this one.
No. The Avata's stock airframe is flyable indoors, and many pilots fly without an additional guard. The full-coverage guard is recommended when the operating environment has surfaces or people the propellers could contact, when the pilot is still learning Manual mode, or when a single prop strike would end the mission. For controlled cinematography in an empty room, you may not need it.
